Jasper, from Acme Construction, just submitted a help desk ticket. Jasper works the night shift and shares a computer with his day shift counterpart. If you working on the help desk, how do you find Jasper’s device so you can remotely control the device in order to troubleshoot the issue? Simple! In the Devices view, you are now able to look in the list of devices for Japser’s name or use the search box to find his name. Once you find the correct name, you can quickly and easily identify the machine he is logged onto. From there, use Expert Assist for behind the screen remote control access.

Remote Control Settings
Now you have the ability to control the remote control settings for each device.
- Preferred tunneling port
- Color Depth and Resolution
You can start using this feature by clicking Settings -> Remote Control
Monitoring and NetFlow Database Upgrade
New and existing users alike can now take advantage of the following improvements made to the application’s database. For existing users, there is a switch in the Administrative Section to convert into the new database structure.
- Better performance. The new data base can process larger loads of data for more devices.
- Increased retention time. You are now able to keep the data for much longer. Previously, data was retained for 1 year. The new database allows you to store data for up to 36 months.
- Retain and archive the full details of your data. Currently, the data is rolled-up into specific data points, which are easily viewed on a chart or graph. With the new database, data points are retained to the lowest monitoring interval for the last hour. Today this data can be viewed using the Open Web API feature. On-demand drill down capabilities and custom timeframe reports will be available in the UI in a near term future release.
Improved Traffic Analysis Visibility
There are two improvements to the traffic analysis display to help determine root cause for high bandwidth utilization.
- Ability to sort traffic by Interface. There is a new Interface category in the Traffic Analysis gadget and a new column for Interface within the Conversation details. For example, if you are collecting traffic from multiple interfaces on a switch, it is easy to identify which port the problem application is using.
- New time scope filters for traffic data. This hour, today, this month, and this week have been added to the system. These scopes take advantage of the new NetFlow database performance and storage upgrades.

Refined SMS Alert Notifications
PT MSP will automatically recognize a SMS email in user management notification settings and truncate the detailed alert message into a simple text with the critical device and alert triggered. This new improvement will give you the enough information at the right time on the right device.
Remote Control to Web Interface of any Device
There is a new remote control option called Web Proxy. It allows you to connect to the web interface of any device at a customer’s site. This is another connectivity option that you have as part of the PT MSP solution to streamline operations, reduce technican time, and control costs.
