Press Releases   PacketTrap Daily Downloads Increase 100%

2/12/2009

PacketTrap Networks, a leading network management software provider, today announced a dramatic increase in demand for the Company's software downloads, driven by the recent release of its network traffic analysis tool, ptFlow, along with continued demand for its free network management tools.

Demonstrating PacketTrap's sensitivity to tight budgets, the Company recently released a new version of its free set of network management tools, pt360. Hailed as the market's most comprehensive set of free network management tools, pt360 includes network scan, SNMP scanning, TFTP server monitoring, and port and MAC scans. In addition, a free 21-day trial for Cisco configuration tools, NetFlow collector and PacketTrap’s popular switch port mapper is available.

"Clearly 2009 is going to be a tough year for everyone, IT departments included," said Steve Goodman, CEO of PacketTrap Networks. "PacketTrap's free software allows us to provide solutions that solve the most frustrating network management challenges despite budget challenges, and helps us build long-term relationships with the network engineers who are using our tools."

Also contributing signficiantly to the dramatic increase in PacketTrap software downloads is the free trial of the Company's revolutionary ptFlow Traffic Analysis tool. Industry experts estimate that 80% of corporate networks include devices that don't support industry-standard protocols such as NetFlow, sFlow®, and J-Flow. ptFlow converts standard network packets into the NetFlow protocol format as long as the device supports span mirroring, port mirroring, or port replication. The information provided by ptFlow enables network engineers to quickly identify bandwidth hogs, re-allocate bandwidth requirements, and quantify network performance utilization with little effort.
