Our team has built several venture-backed technology companies from the seed stage to a collective value of over $100 MM while ensuring a fun, energetic, and contribution-style work environment. Besides early stage successes, the PacketTrap founder’s backgrounds include executive and management positions with Accenture, Apple Computer, SonicWALL, and VMware.

PacketTrap Networks: Steve Goodman

Steve Goodman CEO

Steve was previously Vice President of the Storage and Business Continuity Business Unit at SonicWALL (NASDAQ: SNWL), a leading provider of network security and IT infrastructure solutions. Steve successfully built the Storage Business Unit from zero to over a $20 MM run rate in less than two years. Previous to SonicWALL, Steve was founder and CEO of Lasso Logic, a continuous data protection (CDP) appliance company focused on IT disaster recovery solutions. The appliance is currently in production environments at over 10,000 IT departments covering more than 100,000 client severs and end points. Steve's team built the Lasso sales channel to over 500 resellers and tier one distributors culminating in its successful acquisition by SonicWALL. Prior to Lasso Logic, Steve was co-founder of Learning Productions, Inc., a company that pioneered online training simulation technology. Learning Productions was acquired by SkillSoft (NASDAQ: SKIL), the world largest provider of Cisco, Microsoft, and general online IT certification courseware. Before Learning Productions, Steve managed components of multi-million dollar IT projects at Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting). Steve has a M.S. in Computer Science from The George Washington University.

PacketTrap Networks: Sal Sferlazza

Sal Sferlazza CTO

Sal has extensive experience developing commercial technology applications. Sal was a co-founder of Lasso Logic and the principle architect of SonicWALL CDP, the first continuous data protection backup appliance. The appliance is currently in production environments at over 10,000 IT departments covering more than 100,000 client severs and end points. Also, at Lasso Logic, Sal built and managed the engineering / development organization. Previously, he was founder of Realm Interactive, a video game studio focused on developing Internet Massive Multi-player Online Games (MMPOG). The company was acquired in April 2004 by NcSoft, the largest game developer in the world. At Realm, Sal was responsible for day-to-day operations, project management, and product vision. Prior to Realm, he was Chief Architect for Learning Productions, Inc., where he worked with Steve Goodman, PacketTrap's CEO. The products he developed were the basis for the company's successful acquisition by Skillsoft (NASDAQ: SKIL). Before Learning Productions, Sal started his career as a Technology Consultant at Accenture. Sal is a seasoned technical architect with an eye for perfection.

PacketTrap Networks: Matt Bolton

Matt brings to PacketTrap Networks an exceptional approach to product management. He is a recognized speaker for IT infrastructure solutions and has over 10 years experience building businesses in Silicon Valley. After starting as a venture capital analyst at Woodside Fund, Matt then went on to lead Product Management efforts for Lasso Logic and SonicWALL (NASDAQ: SNWL). Lasso Logic developed the first continuous data protection (CDP) backup appliance focused on IT disaster recovery solutions. After the acquisition of Lasso Logic by SonicWALL, Matt led all components of product management including technical and functional requirements, iterative customer requirements, pricing, competitive positioning, product marketing, messaging, and value differentiation. Most importantly, Matt led several high profile technology products within SonicWALL from inception to early stage deployment to mass customer adoption. At Lasso Logic and then SonicWALL Matt was instrumental in building a sales channel from zero to over 500 partners and a $20MM run rate in less than two years.

PacketTrap Networks: Anna Yen

Anna Yen VP Corporate Development & Marketing

Anna was co-founder of Lasso Logic and was responsible for corporate development, corporate marketing, and public relations for the company. In coordination with the sales and product marketing team, Anna helped Lasso recruit more than 500 channel partners in less than one year before the company was aquired by SonicWALL. Due to Anna's efforts, Lasso was also on the radar of senior executives at Maxtor, Quantum, Seaggate, HP, Intuit, and Barracuda Networks. Anna has held senior positions at Wilson Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, Pixar Animation Studios, Amazon.com, CBS MarketWatch and SmartForce where she made a critical contribution in increasing the company’s valuation from $800 million to $2 billion during her three year tenure there.

PacketTrap Networks: Michael Blonsky

Michael Blonsky VP Operations

Michael joins the PacketTrap team after starting up and building out the virtual appliances initiative for VMware (NASDAQ: VMW). By developing a successful ISV outreach program, Michael helped VMware grow a new category of software solutions from 4 sample virtual appliances to over 600 virtual appliances including a large number of certified, production supported, commercial virtual appliances. Michael planned and executed all of the virtual appliance related evangelism initiatives globally for VMware and was responsible for defining and managing the VMware Certified Virtual Appliance Program. Prior to VMware, Michael was Director of Advanced Solutions for Cast Iron Systems where he focused on selling to and delivering solutions for high profile customers like Toyota, Motorola, Affymetrix, Solectron, Kinder Morgan, and British American Tobacco. In addition to the eight years working in Silicon Valley, Michael brings another eight years of international technology consulting experience with firms like Accenture and Grant Thornton where Michael led multi-year projects for companies like General Electric and Royal Bank of Canada. Michael holds a M.S. in Business and Technology from Johns Hopkins University.

Vivek brings twenty years of experience as an entrepreneur, business manager, and R&D leader in a number of network computing and systems companies. Prior to joining August Capital, Vivek co-founded Cobalt Networks in 1996. As CTO & VP of Product Development, Vivek developed the first successful server appliance and grew Cobalt into a worldwide leader in the category, culminating in a successful IPO and acquisition by Sun Microsystems for $2B. At Sun, Vivek served as the Vice President and General Manager of the Cobalt Business Unit and a member of Sun's Technical Architecture Counsel.

Prior to founding Cobalt, Vivek held a number of technical and management positions at Apple, SGI, and Digital Equipment Corporation and successfully developed numerous products including Internet enabled set-top boxes, PDAs, RISC workstations, and high performance graphics subsystems.

David incorporated Google in 1998 when he was a partner with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati, one of the nation's leading law firms representing technology businesses. David became Google's vice president, Corporate Development in 2002. In this role, David works with the management team to evaluate and drive new strategic business opportunities, including strategic alliances and mergers and acquisitions.

Immediately prior to joining Google, David served as executive vice president, finance and chief financial officer for SmartForce, where he helped transform the publicly-traded company into the world's largest e-learning company. David earned his bachelor of arts degree in history from Santa Clara University and his J.D. from Stanford Law School.

As president and CEO, Dean Drako is responsible for overall corporate strategic direction and product development. Prior to founding Barracuda Networks in 2002, Dean was founder, president and CEO of Velosel Corporation, where he successfully closed two rounds of venture financing. Dean hired his replacement so he could pursue his battle against spam at Barracuda Networks. Prior to Velosel, Dean founded Boldfish, a leading provider of enterprise messaging solutions that was acquired by Siebel Systems in 2003. Before Boldfish, Dean was founder, president and CEO of Design Acceleration, Inc. (DAI), maker of superior design analysis and verification tools, which was acquired by Cadence Design Systems in 1998. He has served as an entrepreneur in residence for SoftBank Venture Capital as well as vice president of product engineering at the 3DO Company. Dean holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

As the Vice President and General Manager, Douglas Brockett brings to SonicWALL a broad range of product development and technology expertise. Prior to joining SonicWALL, Mr. Brockett was the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Nexsi Systems, an early-stage Internet security company. Before joining Nexsi, Mr. Brockett held vice president positions in business development and system integration services with BBN and GTE Internetworking. Mr. Brockett holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Harvard University.
