Over the next day or so we will release a new feature in the pt360, our Switch Port Mapper. To get the feature, simply click Help | Check for Software Updates in your pt360.
Our Switch Port Mapper helps network engineers identify the switch port to which a device is connected and thus eliminates the need of manually tracing the network cables. The tool discovers the devices plugged into each port of a specified switch. The tool is useful for system and network engineers to gain visibility into the IP, MAC, VLAN, status and availability of ports. Since this is a real-time discovery, the administrators can also view the operational status and speed of each port.
Specific Switch Port Mapper Features:
* Multi-vendor switch support, like Cisco, Juniper, HP, 3Com, Nortel, etc.
* Map multiple switches simultaneously.
* Mapping details are stored and provides the mapping history.
* Option to group switches and maps them separately.
* Scheduled scanning of switches. Switches in different groups can be scheduled separately.
* Automatically retrieve VLAN details.
* Retrieves and displays the virtual IP Addresses of the systems.
* Displays all the MAC Addresses connected to a port, like computers, IP Phones, etc.
* Ability to locate the physical location of the connected device.
* Powerful search using IP Address/MAC/DNS Name/Subnet/Physical Location to get the details of switch ports.
* Auto-publish the results to a CSV/ XLS.
* Port Availability Reports to view the Used and Available ports in all switches.
* Export the switch port details
Networks are complicated; network management doesn’t have to be.
Happy Switching!
