SolarWinds filed their S1 for their planned Initial Public Offering (IPO) recently. As most of you know SolarWinds is the 800 pound gorilla of our space – the middle market and SMB network management software space. Some folks call us the “Do it Yourself” network management space, which I tend to agree with.
As much as we compete with SolarWinds (specifically against the Engineer’s ToolSet), we believe it’s important for their IPO to be successful. It’s important for IT Network Engineers, Sys Admins, and IT professionals generally to be able to compare and contrast multiple offerings in the market. It helps companies like us build higher quality solutions. Competition is good, not only because it drives us internally, but it also drives continuous improvement at a far greater pace.
We inherently believe that we can bring Web 2.0 principles to network management. We believe when you compare our pt360 to the SolarWinds Engineer’s Toolset you will notice a stark and specific difference in usability, performance, and overall breadth of functionality. Beyond the overall quality superiority of our solution, you will also notice that we are a smaller, more nimble company than SolarWinds, and that we can move at a moments notice. We turn around customer requirements and feature requests into our solution quicker than any company in the market - hands down.
Regardless of how large we are, you will always be on a first name basis with our company. It’s our commitment and one of our core guiding principles.
